Ning has enjoyed popularity as well as a few controversies. In August of 2008, the application banned widget Laboratory. The debate became heated after a TechCrunch article was posted discussing the incident. The following December, the application announced it would no longer permit pornographic content. In 2010, the search function was removed as well as free networks.

The Plus plan costs $24.95 per month and includes up to 10,000 members 10 GBs of storage space, chat and up to five Ning apps. The Pro plan costs $59.95 per month and includes unlimited members, 20 GBs of storage space and up to 10 Ning apps.
If you are looking for a social networking site where you will find many long, lost friends, then Ning isn't the place for you. However, Ning is a useful application if you want to set up an interactive and customized fan site or community page, but don't want to invest the time and resources involved in building a true website.
